White Hunger: Virtual Character

Our team has been approached to develop a pipeline for producing a customisable video containing a customisable virtual character for the play: White Hunger.

In one key scene, an actor on stage interacts with a projected virtual courtesan character named Cecilia, engaging in a dialogue where Cecilia is customized by the actor.

Our task is develop a tool to make this virtual character to life through a prerecorded animation, enabling customisation of her clothing, hairstyle, and makeup, at user-specified moments, with animated transitions between these states.

Dithering & Pixilisation shaders

The client requested a specific look for this project. They wanted a pixalated and dithered look.

After some research and experimentation I have developped this post-processing shader. The pixelsize, and dithering techniques are fully customizable.

Clothe, makup and hair switching

An important part of this character is that her outfit and look can be customized easily by the user.

These things needed to happen also at specific intervals at specific moments in the video.

Several diffrent kind of glitches

The client wanted the transitions of clothes to look like glitching, more customizability would be better.

Part of Cecilia's story was that she glitches out and turns into a blob, this video shows how a demonstration of me acchieving that effect with the shaders and tools made by me.

This shows varius diffrent kind of glitches and how they can be used in tandem.

It is fully customizable and controllable via the unreal sequencer.
